Welcome to my PDF Champions Home Page:
A Champion's Challenge

As a Parkinson’s Disease Foundation (PDF) Champion, I am working to raise funds to improve the lives and futures of people touched by Parkinson’s and to ultimately find a cure.

I have been living with Parkinson's for the past 7 years. I'm going to run the Grand Canyon from rim to rim to rim for 2 reasons: first, I'm turning 40 that week and want everybody to see that no matter what your circumstances are, you can do anything you set your mind to. I want to raise awareness for Parkinson's Disease in my community and be a good example that parkinson's disease doesn't just affect older people, it also affects seemingly young and healthy individuals and doesn't mean you can't continue to live an active are only limited by what you think your limits are. Don't say you can't do it because of Parkinson's Disease, do it in spite of Parkinson's Disease!

I hope that I will inspire someone else and raise awareness in my community. My ultimate goal is to start an annual fundraising event in my community - a run benefiting the efforts of the Parkinson's Disease Foundation. Follow my progress as I work to start a group in the Huntsville/Madison area that provides support and empowerment to people touched some way by Parkinson's Disease. If you would like to join me, please post a message here or email me at

Did you know that nearly one million people in the United States are living with Parkinson’s disease? I am organizing my PDF Champions event in honor of these individuals and their loved ones who are impacted each day by Parkinson’s.

Parkinson’s disease is chronic neurological disease, for which there is currently no cure. But promising research is being conducted. Since its founding in 1957, PDF has dedicated over $90 million to fund the work of leading scientists throughout the world and over $37 million to support national education and advocacy programs.

Every donation really does make a difference in advancing PDF’s mission. Please help me reach my goal by making a donation today - the cure begins with YOU!!

More than 81 percent of PDF’s funds go directly toward its programs. PDF is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and all gifts are tax deductible.

Thank you in advance for your support!

4/10/2013WE DID IT!!!! Thanks for all the encouragement! Words cannot explain and pictures won't do it justice. I'm going to write about our experience and post it later today with some pictures so I'll let you know once it's up. While we were running, we had hail, rain, sleet and snow along with the 50 mph winds, it was a CRAZY weather day. I have sooooo much to share from the trip.Jennifer
4/8/2013Good luck today. You won't be able to post pictures and videos from the canyon (you'll pretty much be out of contact with the world until you get back to the south rim) unless you have a satellite phone, but I look forward to hearing how you've done. I hope there's no snow, that the water crossings on N. Kaibab aren't too high or swift, and that the trail is clear and not muddy. Watch out for mule stuff on the trail !!!Good Luck!
4/6/2013Jennifer~ My husband is severely handicapped by herbicide induced Parkinson's disease. We had hoped to spend our retirement exploring the rest of the U.S. and the world. Now we will do it with an electric wheelchair. Kiss the sun and dance in the wind for us, will you? Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Our oldest daughter is an ultra-marathoner, and plans to do the rim-to-rim-to-rim herself next time. I know you will be an inspiration to her, too! JoAnn Dilts
3/27/2013I'm so excited and can't wait for my run through the Grand Canyon in just over a week! It's going to be an amazing adventure for me and my husband, just pray that he keeps up with me :). I'll post videos and pictures while we're running on April 8th. Please share this page with your friends and be a Champion in everything you do! Don't forget to hit the "donate now" button at the top right of this page and contribute to PDF research to find a cure. Thank YOU for all your support!Jennifer
