We invite everyone affected by Parkinson's - people living with PD, caregivers, family members, friends and others - to contribute to the Parkinson's Quilt.
The deadline for the Parkinson’s Quilt Project has now been extended to Friday, September 17. To ensure your panel is received in time, please register today. Within 24 hours, you will receive a confirmation email with important details about your panel. All submissions received by the September 17th deadline will be displayed with the full Parkinson's Quilt in Scotland this fall and will be included in displays across the US and around the world in 2011.
There is a $25 fee to register, which will cover costs of shipping and displaying the Quilt. Individuals who are traveling to the World Parkinson Congress for the Quilt Display have the option of foregoing registration and bringing their panels directly on site. If you are interested in this option, please contact us at quilt@pdf.org.
About the Parkinson's Quilt Project
The Parkinson's Quilt Project is the first global quilt project to focus the world's attention on the nearly one million people in the US and more than four million people worldwide living with Parkinson's disease (PD). The project aims to raise awareness of the impact that the disease has on people living with Parkinson's - along with their families, caregivers and friends - and our continued urgency to find a cure.
The Parkinson's Quilt will be displayed for the first time at the 2nd World Parkinson Congress in Glasgow, Scotland from Tuesday, September 28 through Friday ,October 1, 2010. After this initial showing, blocks of the Quilt will be available through 2011 for renting to display at PD events. Details of this opportunity will be made available in late 2010.
The Quilt consists panels made by individuals and groups affected by Parkinson's, in honor of the cause, of their group or in honor of their loved ones affected by Parkinson's. Each panel is two feet tall and two feet wide, and will be sewn together in eight foot sections. Groups can create both panels and sections.
